At Gen Con, our mission is to create the world’s greatest place for tabletop gaming. At the core of what we do is producing the largest tabletop gaming convention in North America, held every year in Indianapolis, IN. Gen Con, The Best Four Days in Gaming™, is 70,000 attendees, 500+ exhibitors, and 19,000 ticketed events, operating 24 hours per day, in over 1.2 million square feet of event space in the Indiana Convention Center, Lucas Oil Stadium, and many surrounding hotels. Just as new technologies and a larger, more diverse set of audiences are driving change in the games we play and how we play them, we dedicate ourselves to creating and adopting the best tools and practices possible to support and showcase tabletop gaming culture wherever gamers gather, be it in the physical space of a convention center or in the digital space of our social media communities and streaming channels.
A top-notch squad of 14 reliable, hard-working, detail-oriented individuals to help us print, sort, pack, and mail several thousand packets of badges and event tickets for Gen Con 2019 attendees.
Hours: We run two shifts: an early shift (6 am to 2:30 pm) and a later shift (2:30 pm to 10 pm) — Monday through Friday, starting June 18 and ending on July 26.
Compensation: $16/hr. Team members are temporary, part-time employees without benefits. A social security card and driver’s license or other government-issued photo ID is required to complete paperwork. Please note: This position does not include travel to the convention in Indianapolis.
Additional Work: Ticket Recon
After the convention, there will be a ticket reconciliation project to scan used event tickets into our system, starting around August 21 for about four weeks. Participation in Ticket Recon is optional, and availability does not affect your eligibility for the Fulfillment Team positions, but please let us know if you’re interested.
Atmosphere: We will be working in a small conference room with 5-7 people. Two 15-minute breaks with a 30-minute lunch break in the middle of the shift (based on an 8-hour workday for the early shift, and a 7-hour workday for the later shift). It’s detail-oriented work at a high volume, but we keep it fun, and you can totally catch up on your podcast backlog while you work once you get the hang of it.
