Hello All!

My son (10) has recently started playing miniatures games.  He's talked me into taking him to Gen Con for one day this year.  So far, I've gotten my one day ticket and his wristband. Can I purchase event tickets and let him use them instead of me?

He's mostly interested in Star Wars games; will there be plenty to see and do in the exhibit hall without signing up for events?

Thanks so much!  I'm trying to learn as much as I can to enjoy our day.

Welcome to the con!

Essentially - tickets can be given to others if that person has a badge. To participate in an ticketed event, you need a badge.

Here's some other threads with more details...

To answer the second part of your question, yes, there is plenty to do without tickets. He can check out the kid zone, you can get in on free demos in the exhibit hall, I'd bet that Rio Grande would let him check out games in their free gaming room and just walking around the exhibit hall can be a lot of fun. You probably won't even get through the entire exhibit hall in a day. For his first Gen Con while he can just get in on free wristband I wouldn't worry too much about events. Just go and have fun, check it out and next year when he has to have a badge you two can check out all the events your hearts desire.
