Our group will be heading to Indy from Maryland in 3 vehicles.  My sub-group was discussing possible games that could be played in the car while driving.  We have 3 people in the car including the driver and 2 other cars following us. We usually listen to audio books or game related podcasts but are looking for something different this year. Any suggestions on games for our group of 3 or that could be played between cars electronically?

We used to do the following:
1) How many different vehicle makes in a row before one repeats - vehicles must pass us.? (Ford, Chevrolet, Toyota, Honda, etc.) The one with the longest streak gets to pick the next game.

2) Everyone picks a color, count the number of vehicles of each color between a specified number of exits. (Parked/stopped vehicles don't count.) Highest number wins!

3) Find license plates on vehicles of all 50 states (or as many as you can find). This is a group game.

4) Storytime: Each player starts telling a story based on a color/image/text of a roadsign or billboard. The next person continues the story. They have until the next sign/mile marker to come up with an idea.

Not specifically a car game, but this word game is good for killing time:

The first person to think of a word - to start the game pick any random word - says "1."
The second person to think of a word says "2."
They count "1, 2, 3, " and then simultaneously say their words.
From now on, every turn you try to think of a word related to both of the previous words.
The first person to think of such a word says "1," the second says "2," and they again simultaneously say the words they are thinking of.
Repeat until you both say the same word.

We found a game called over/under at Walgreens for less than $10 (i think).  each card has a statement on it like "there are 2000 different species of butterflies", and you have to decide whether the actual number is over or under that statement. can be fun and interesting.

We also like to take the cards from a few trivia games with us - like trivial pursuit or friends trivia or cranium.
