Hello all, this is Seth from Veridian Worldcrafters!

That's right, a Globe Game.  With a Board Game. This is a custom globe made by our partners, Replogle Globes, the #1 globe manufacturer in the world (based in Chicago).

You play as a family trying to take over the new fantasy world Vaeya, designed by S. A. Heinichen who has spent over 12 years obsessively designing this world.

Initial Impressions:

There are two play spaces, the Worldscape(the globe) and the Mindscape(the game mat). Players play with custom cards and unique mechanics to control the Mindscape, mastering the magic of the world, known as Veridian.  The Mindscape play influences the Worldscape play and Vice Versa.  Players move magnetic figures across the Worldscape, exploring it to collect complete sets of cards to turn in, trade or someone can steal them.  They also use magnetic figures to claim territories, build fortifications, recover knowledge from ruins and fight wars, among many other actions. The Mindscape is random each time you play, the Worldscape has random discoveries and random initial setup positions for varied game play through many Ages of the world.  Players can group up to survive or leave their group at any time to seek their own path to victory.  One play session is an Age of the world, and goes on until people call an end to it or the world is destroyed by one or more apocalyptic events that players can initiate.  An Age can last anywhere from 30 min. to 2+ hours.  Then, the game session ends, stickers are placed over the relevant areas and presto, you have your first game recorded, ready for the next game.  This game was designed to be game-night and tournament friendly, while having complex depth of play with simple rules.

The Goal:

Players try to survive the hostile planet Vaeya and each other in their current Age.  Not surviving (aka losing your whole family of characters) means you lose, and in the next age you play as a new family.  Surviving means you win, with multiple winners occurring in the game.  History remembers the biggest winners, so having more family members survive, with surviving cities, local populations and other facets of the game allow everyone to calculate who won the most Prestige.  Winning also confers advantages to the next age.

The Pitch:

This is not your average board game, as the world is so huge you will have plenty of room on the globe+mat for playing with 10 players(thought maybe not enough elbow room).  We'd like to test the high end of the game's limits if possible, so please sign up!  We'll be looking to build our fan base for a Kickstarter in the future, so your email info would be most appreciated, if you want join us in the wild adventure ahead.  Also, your constructive feedback is greatly welcomed!

Note: If you are going to go to sign up there are more ticket spaces available and game turnover will occur at the end of an Age to allow for more people to participate and see the system in play.  We can accommodate a lot more people during the 6 hours of the event, feel free to come and go as you please and bring friends!  Depending upon the number of players that show up, we'll have different tournament rules to adjust accordingly.

Thank you for your interest and we can't wait to meet you at Gen Con!

This looks really interesting and I immediately checked out if I could find space in my schedule to try it, but...

Dude. 6 hours is a LOT to commit to a game that isn't even out yet... Especially since it's a tournament? Based on your note at the end it seems as if you don't expect people to actually be there for the whole 6 hours. Is that right?

Is it going to block out my schedule for that whole 6 hours? Because if so, you are probably much better off selling 1-2 hour ticket chunks and not running this as a tournament.

Yes that is a good idea.  I wanted to see if there was a lot of players looking to sink there teeth into the game for 6 hours.  The time commitment is very flexible and you don’t need to spend more than 1 play session (1-2 hours) to get your ticket’s worth.  The game has a built in tournament that needs playtesting so that’s why it’s advertised as such.

Thanks for the helpful feedback!
