Is working fine for me...anyone else having issues?

I am getting a 404 as of 5/14 at 7 PM Eastern:

404 Not Found

  • Code: NoSuchKey
  • Message: The specified key does not exist.
  • Key: 2024.exhibithallmap.pdf
  • RequestId: VR0RDN4KN8DM3BNE
  • HostId: ffhVD9HKCfYjw6Wl70LHQCw8CXSo77wU5+zEjfsWEbjQ9rqazWfLjsFwxcSeQ8Gx61fpFfSnxJ0=

An Error Occurred While Attempting to Retrieve a Custom Error Document

  • Code: NoSuchKey
  • Message: The specified key does not exist.
  • Key: error.html

It happens on Edge, Firefox, and Chrome, so it is not a browser issue.

It's working fine for me. I can make the error happen if I put in spurious characters at the end of the URL, but otherwise, the links work fine for me.

Dumb question, if I may: Does manually typing in the URL into the browser work? Or does that still fail? I don't know how this would happen so inconsistently between different people and browsers, but sometimes I've seen a link in an email or webpage fail whereas entering it in manually works. Somehow, something about the URL doesn't get read correctly by browsers, and I have no idea how it happens.

That doesn't mean the fix is to manually enter that address in. Rather, I'm just suggesting a test that might point in a specific direction.

Well, shoot... I was hoping there would at least be some change of behavior from typing it in, but nope.

The error doesn't make any sense. "NoSuchKey" is an AWS error saying that the file does not exist. But that's clearly not the case because I'm able to get to it. And from the post above, so is Mike.

del_grande tried multiple browsers, so this shouldn't be a browser problem.

I don't want to torture you with tests. I'm just a rando Gen Con attendee who also works IT, so I could suggest more things. But if the problem is somehow on AWS's side (I'm having trouble imagining how, but hypothetically if it is) then putting you through hoops is just going to tire you out without accomplishing anything.

I think it's best to wait and see if Gen Con's staff can identify an issue.

Now IF you want to test further, I can suggest some simple things. But of course this is completely voluntary:

  • If the device you browse with is mobile, you can try either going to a different place with wifi (like a store or restaurant), or just drop to LTE or 5G and see if the problem remains.
  • Alternatively, if you know how to "hotspot" (i.e. how to share) your phone's LTE/5G connection, you could do that, have your computer or whatever connect, and then try again.

Those two things test networking.

If you are either IT proficient or adventurous, I could suggest a test that sees if it's the browser. But if you don't recognize any of the following, it may be less frustrating for you if you just ignore it:

Try going to the command line (in Windows) or open the terminal (if you're on a Mac) and use 'curl' to get the file.

curl -o map.pdf https://files.gencon.com/2024.exhibithallmap.pdf

This takes the web browser out of the equation, in case it's the problem.

Again, I don't see how the browser would be the problem given del_grande's post above. But it's another thing to try.

I'll stop here. This is already long enough as it is. Honestly, though, maybe waiting it out will change something. Don't go too far, and try again tomorrow.

Since the map was released, I have viewed from two different devices on two different networks.  I suspect this is an endpoint/localized issue of some type. If it were a larger issue, more people would be here asking questions.

I tried on a mobile device and my desktop. I did the curl command and it didn't download anything.
I'm just confused as to why you can see it. I was thinking maybe Mike could because his account had more 'priority' than mine (i.e. a higher level of access on Gen Con's site). So what's going on?

We are equally confused. I tried this while logged out of my account and it's still working for me. Also working on my mobile.

Working fine here.

I did not see McFarland Books on the list of exhibitors.  I always make it a point to frequent their table and buy something every year.  I really hope that they will be at Origins Game Fair.

Working fine for me as well.

This is good. I wonder what the original issue was, but it's good that everyone's in now.

I immediately scrolled down to see if "My Little Demon" was still in booth 666.

For anyone looking to print out maps... I took the big PDF guide and shortened it just to the maps.

I decided to be extra and print it at FedEx for $15, just so my friend and I would have a print version in our bags we could use. Turned out nicely! It's big, but if you're bringing a backpack it's an easy fit.
