Restaurants That Deliver
Posted by brotherbock

Hi all. I find myself very often at GenCon in need of food, but with little time between events to go get some.

So can we build a list of places that deliver to the ICC and surrounding hotels?

I know Hotbox, the vaguely pornographic and/or 420 sounding pizza place delivers. Who else?

Ninja edit: and maybe I solved the entire problem, as I neglected to think about OrderUp. There are 60 restaurants listed that OrderUp can deliver to the ICC. https://orderup.com/some/indianapolis/delivery/featured

But, anyone know of restaurants that deliver themselves? Or what ones from OrderUp are worth getting delivered?

Aside from the pizza places, I know that there's a Jimmy John's that serves the downtown area.  Other than that, you might ask the concierge at the hotel where you're staying.

Okay, so this is quickly turning into a brotherbock info dump list, but that's cool :)

Grubhub lists six restaurants that deliver to the ICC...

Sultana Cafe and Hookah Bar
Peppy Grill
Red Lion Grog House
Riteway Pizza
On The Border
Villa Fresh Italian Kitchen

Anyone have any experience with them?

In the past, I thought ICC had a "no outside food" policy. It's not like they go searching through bags, but a delivery guy wandering the halls with a pizza might be frowned upon. I know this was discussed in the old forums (every year, it seemed).

Indy All Night is a delivery only restaurant. Hours from evening til late night and they have an app. The food is good too. Just not sure if they'd deliver to the ICC itself, I know they do the hotels though.

I'll be in the Union Station, so I don't particularly care about ICC policies :) Many other games are in hotels and not in the ICC, and if a place delivers to the ICC, I doubt they would not deliver to connected hotels. So for brevity's sake, I'd like to keep this to a list of suggestions.

Will check out Indy All Night, sounds like a good option.

I would say this, to skirt the NO OUTSIDE DELIVERIES policy at ICC, just arrange to meet the delivery person just outside the ICC. You can bring food into the ICC, that is a certainty. I try to eat healthy...most of the time...and the options at ICC are...pathetic to say the least. I'm a bit sad California Pizza Kitchen has closed as it was so close and you had some not-so-terrible options.

We've used this in the past to get a pizza delivered at 3am. We usually have them meet us at the Marriott or Westin across the street.

Your first and second posts said "delivers to the ICC". We just don't want you to have a rude surprise. As others have said, you can certainly use any hotel or nearby landmark (like Pan Am Plaza). Many hotels have delivery service ads in their in-room directory.

As for your list, Doordash also serves the downtown area. That will get you places like:

  • City BBQ
  • Scotty's
  • Buca
  • Siam Square
  • Bento Asian Bistro
  • Hong Kong
  • Georgio's
  • Punch Burger
  • Qdoba
  • Greek Islands
  • Potbelly

I wasn't trying to be a jerk, I'm really sorry if I came off that way. I just don't want this thread to turn into a discussion of whether outside food is allowed where or not--I want to keep it a easily usable list. So I was just trying to head off discussion that was off topic. Sorry if I came off rude, I'm grateful for the input. Apologies.

I hadn't thought of Doordash, between that and OrderUp there are a ton of options. Awesome.

Also, I would also note that it is possible that some restaurants may not do delivery through a service or themselves during Gen Con even if they do it usually. It is something that happens if they are going to be crazy busy IN the restaurant as they want to focus on that and not to go orders. I'm not saying that it will happen that way, but also something to keep in mind.

Man, I live far from anywhere that delivers, I haven't kept pace with those things. The one restaurant that would deliver to our house only delivered there because the son of the folks up the road used to work there (how does a guy with no arms work at a pizza place? With mad skills.) But they closed. Amazing what you can get in civilized parts if the world. I wonder of they'll do groceries to union station. Same day?

A bag of grapes and some yogurts could hold me for an afternoon. Gonna look into that.
