Is there a special place in an educator can register as an attendee? If so, can someone please point me in the right direction?

Badge registration for Gen Con 2018 won't be open until January.

When January rolls around, you might look into doing Trade Day, as it includes educator seminars and programming on the Wednesday before the con.

thanks, but I was hoping for a place/site/person to contact when January rolls around. from what info I have been able to find, I just register as a trade badge attendee.

When you register for a Trade Day badge, you will receive an email telling you how to verify your credentials and giving you a contact person.
