Well, the original DL-44 prop from the first movie was a modified Broomhandle Mauser pistol, so it makes sense it looks like a real weapon - because it once was. And that pic above looks pretty close to the movie version, so...

Personally, I'd recommend the standard orange tip on the end of the barrel, at least - just so people can tell it apart at first glance. But I'm not a GenCon official.
