I'm doing a project for a data analysis class and finding out it's hard to dig up info on historical badge prices for GenCon. So, I thought I'd crowdsource my request and hope for help from all you awesome gamers!

If you've attended GenCon -- any GenCon -- respond in this thread with the year you went and the amount you paid for your badge. Also, let me know if you pre-registered or paid at the door, since those amounts differ.

Since I don't think this data is confidential (it's theoretically public data if anybody had bothered to archive it), I'll reproduce what I have below in the hopes of not getting too much duplicate data.

2017 - $90 pre-reg
2016 - $90 pre-reg, $120 at the door
2015 - $80 pre-reg
2014 - $70 pre-reg
2012 - $70 pre-reg
2011 - $68 pre-reg, $78 at the door
2010 - $68 pre-reg
2009 - $68 pre-reg
2003 - $55 pre-reg, $60 at the door
1985 - $25 pre-reg, $35 at the door

Might be worthwhile to indicate how far back you are really looking to go.

If May 30 was still pre-reg, then these are all pre-reg:
2012 - $70
2010 - $68
2009 - $68

There is no longer a pre-registration price; I believe they changed it last year to be always the same price.

2013: $70 pre-registration, $80 at the door
2008: ...no clue but I know it was $10 more at the door from the apology e-mail I have from July 2008 saying nobody was erroneously charged $10 extra for pre-registering despite what the receipts say :)
2006: $65 pre-registration, $75 at the door
2005: $60 pre-registration, $70 at the door
2004: $60 pre-registration, $70 at the door

Glad I could help, and no clue why Gen-Con's webpage is MIA from the Wayback Machine for 2007 :P

Oh, uh, wait a minute.  It suddenly occurs to me that my buddy Matt (who collaborated on Best50YearsInGaming.com for the 50th anniversary) might know this information going back all the way.  I will ask him!
