Info re: Some road construction on I-465 during Gen Con

Here's the part that's potentially relevant to Gen Con goers:

Segment 3: I-69 N/S from I-465 to S.R. 37

  • Middle of June to End of July
  • Work will be completed on nights and weekends
  • 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. the next morning
  • One lane will always be open in each direction

Segment 4: I-465 E/W from I-69 to I-70

  • Beginning of August through October
  • Work will be completed on nights and weekends
  • 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. the next morning
  • One lane will always be open in each direction

I don't know if this is all of it, but it's something that'll happen on the main (well, the only) ring highway of Indianapolis during the con. Since it might affect traffic, and therefore people with hotels outside of downtown, it's worth mentioning.

Ps. There's also a nifty site called "Your 511 (Truckers' Info)" - http://intr.carsprogram.org. The cool thing about this site for con-goers is that it reports all sorts of near-realtime traffic issues on the big highways, including road construction and accidents. Doesn't seem to report jack for city streets, though. Best thing about it: It's a map, not a list of streets you wouldn't recognize. That can help people plan routes without having to plan really far in advance.

Hope this helps. I ought to remember to bump this prior to the con.

Redline construction will be more of a pain than what is listed here.

Update: There's an Indiana Dept. of Transportation website that might be a bit more usable than the "Your 511" site. At minimum, it reports the same stuff. It's here:

http://pws.trafficwise.org/pws/

... And the IDoT site also links to a couple of mobile apps for that same site:
https://www.in.gov/indot/2420.htm (look for the iTunes store and Google Play store links).

Also, they have a Twitter account that might be helpful.
https://twitter.com/INDOTEast

... but don't panic if you look at the closures. Some current tweets show plenty of closed roads, but if you read closely, many should be open before the convention starts. So far, if I'm reading things correctly, the worst that'll happen is that some folks will be affected by annoyances and slowdowns, not outright detoured around closures. But we'll have to see if those published schedules will remain intact.

Bump for important info from https://indot.carsprogram.org site:

"Between Exit 73A-73B: I-465 (4 miles east of Plainfield) and Exit 80: I-65 (Indianapolis). Road closed. Construction work. Starting Friday at 9:00PM EDT until August 5, 2019 at about 6:00AM EDT."

Plain English: I-70 from I-465 near the airport to downtown will be closed. The construction will start on the 26th and will go through Aug 5. This means that the direct route from the airport hotels to downtown will not be available.

That'll stink.

You'll want to look on maps to plan your alternate routes. I haven't bothered doing this since I'm not coming in from there nor staying out by the hotel.
