Hello all. I know there hasn't been an update in the past couple years due to the pandemic (and it's hard to motivate myself to work on this project when not going to the con), but version 4 of the Gen Con event planner is now live! If you have an old version of the application you will need to uninstall it and install the new one, which can be found here:
https://linkgannon.github.io/GenConPlanner/publish.htm
From here on out the application should automatically check for updates (the previous auto-updater doesn't work because I had to change where the application is hosted at).

For those who are out of the loop, the Gen Con event planner is an application that I made to greatly help groups schedule their events together. It is also just an easier way to browse and filter the events. You can read through the history here: https://www.reddit.com/r/gencon/comments/bli3sp/gen_con_event_planner_v3/

The app has been nearly completely overhauled with tons of new features. Usually, I would list out each of the new features with instructions on how to use them, but so much has changed, I wrote full documentation on nearly everything packed into this program. You can find the documentation by clicking on the in-app help button, or by going to this link: https://linkgannon.github.io/GenConPlanner/Gen_Con_Event_Planner_Documentation.pdf

Though this is not even close to an exhaustive list, here are some of the new features:

  • A simplified ribbon for the navigation menu instead of a bunch of random buttons at the top.
  • The ability to add other people's schedules to your schedule, and to create and assign people to groups on the scheduler.
  • The ability to add custom events.
  • Clicking on an event in the schedule selects it in the "Attending Events" grid control.
  • Buttons to quickly clear your events or clear other people's events from your schedule.
  • Saves your layout and filters when closing and reopening the program.
  • 3 new views for the schedule control.
  • A help button for documentation.
  • A priority system for events.

As always, if you have any suggestions for features you’d like to see implemented, just let me know. Happy planning!
