Totally new to GenCon and I'll be living at my gaming center for the entire time as I'm running games every day with my crew. I'm told I'm in the Indiana Convention Center - Hall B. Anyone know anything about it? Good location?
Good restaurants nearby? Coffee? Advice? Bathrooms to avoid?
Hall B is on the western side of the first floor. There's a map here: http://www.icclos.com/floor-plans.aspxThere is a convention center food court nearby, which is not great food. The only other places to eat within a quick walk are the restaurants within the JW Marriott complex, which is across the street from the West ICC entrance or accessible via a hamster tunnel. Within the hotel is a Starbucks, Osteria Pronto (Italian), and High Velocity (sports bar). There's also a Friday's in that same complex. Most other dining is in the other direction.
There will be bathrooms within Hall B as well as adjacent halls. Whether you need to avoid them or not is pretty dependent on how often they're cleaned.
There's a good variety of fast food in Circle Center Mall, which is a few blocks away and is connected (through a couple buildings) via skyway to the convention center. Since you don't have to go outside to get there, you are basically still in the same building. And walking through the skyways is fun.
Illinois Street, which is 1 block east of the convention center, has a wide variety of sit-down restaurants. About 3 blocks east you'll find Pennsylvania Street, which has good options such as King David's Hot Dogs or Dick's Bodacious Barbecue. Fast Burrito, inside the Salesforce Tower, is a lot like Chipotle and their breakfast burritos are pretty yummy.
