Gen Con's Writer's Symposium program brings you the best of the best in the world of fiction writing and offers programming that rivals any literary con available. Authors and publishers host panels, seminars, and workshops focused on the craft of writing. The offerings here are not to be missed by any author or aspiring author to be.

The Writer's Symposium hosts an Author Guest of Honor and Special Guests who participate in panels and seminars offered by the program as well as in book signings. For 2022, the Writer's Symposium will be host to dozens of prominent authors, two special guests, and one Guest of Honor.
2022 Writer's Symposium Author Guest of Honor: R. A. SalvatoreThirty-four years ago, R. A. SALVATORE created the character of Drizzt Do’Urden, the dark elf who has withstood the test of time to stand today as an icon in the fantasy genre. He considers writing to be his personal journey, but still, he’s quite pleased that so many are walking the road beside him! He still plays softball for his team, Clan Battlehammer, and enjoys his weekly DemonWars: Reformation RPG and Dungeons & Dragons 5e games. His work has been shortlisted for the 2014 Alice Yard Prize for Art Writing, the 2014 and 2015 Small Axe Literary Competitions, and the inaugural Ignyte Award for Best Speculative Poetry. His work is published in Uncanny Magazine, Strange Horizons, Reckoning, and New Worlds, Old Ways: Speculative Tales from the Caribbean, among others. He is the former Poetry editor of FIYAH: A Magazine of Black Speculative Fiction. His debut poetry collection, Can You Sign My Tentacle?, is out now from Interstellar Flight Press. 2022 Writer's Symposium Special Guest: Carlos HernandezNew York Times Bestselling author Carlos Hernandez is the author of The Assimilated Cuban’s Guide to Quantum Santeria, Sal and Gabi Break the Universe (which won the Pura Belpré award in 2019) and Sal and Gabi Fix the Universe, along with many short stories, poems, and works of drama. By day, Carlos is a CUNY Professor of English and a game designer: most recently, Negocios Infernales, the TTRPG he is co-creating with C. S. E. Cooney.
Author's from Writer's Symposium as well as the Author Guest of Honor and Special Guests can be found signing in the Book Signing area throughout the show. Dates and times are subject to change, but here's the current schedule. These signings take place in the rear of the Exhibit Hall, behind the Entertainer's Avenue.
Come meet your favorite authors! Thursday night, 8 pm – midnight, join us in the convention center, Wabash 1, for a Meet the Pros Author Signing Extravaganza! Symposium authors would love to meet you, say hello, and sign a book; some of them will even have some of their books for sale! This is a free event and authors will sign their books for free, and they love to talk to fans. Please stop by for any part of this new to Gen Con event, that we hope to make an annual tradition.
