I understand the frustration. Gen Con is very popular now. There's not a whole lot that can be done.
This is not the proper attitude to have. You have a serious problem with housing downtown which you might think is a 'good problem' to have. It isn't. Unless Indy is going to add room capacity downtown - which I haven't heard is happening - then the best option is to move to a city that can accomodate what this convention has grown to. The success of GenCon seems to have reached the point that Indy just can't handle it anymore. Believe me, I love Indianapolis and it's a very convenient location for me, but I won't put up with this convention much longer if something doesn't change.
I get that you are frustrated. My attitude is that, when something is very very popular, not everyone can get it. I wouldn't even call that an attitude, it's just a statement of fact. Whether it's, beanie babies, cabbage patch kids, or Gen Con downtown hotel rooms. Of course I wish everyone could get the room they want, but that's just not possible. That's why I said there's not much to be done, and if you want to call that an attitude, I'm ok with that. I'm glad the con is popular, of course. I'm sorry you didn't get the room you want. As I said, there's nothing I can do to alter the supply/demand ratio here.
We've had discussions ad nauseum about other locations, though Gen Con is committed to Indy through 2020. If you want to feel free to rehash those discussions, you can do so in off topic, but honestly, there's no better suited location in my opinion, but that's a topic for another thread.
