Lanyard distribution should be based on number of Gen Cons attended. I've attended 147 straight, so I deserve a gold-plated, diamond-encrusted lanyard. If newbies want a lanyard they should put in 147 years of effort like me. (Did I mention my badge number is -17?)

You'd get +5 bonus points if you were ghosting and/or lobby conning.

Yes, I'm a member of the group. I just wanted to parody the thread where someone was asking what the badges looked like. :D

Nothing goes over your head.  Your reflexes are too fast, you would catch it!

My Lanyard is going to cosplay as a belt...

Not sure what the issue is.
My badge packet came with three lanyards. Did some packets come with less than three?

Many were missing lanyards—especially the packets delivered last.

Ok. This thread is pretty great. Well done by all. I especially appreciated the AOS pictures.

You should know that as parents sometimes your children won't be able to handle the lanyards and you should plan your vacation accordingly.  Those of us who have worked hard to be able to support our lanyards properly should have priority access to all locations in Gen Con.  I'm not being elitist, that's just reality.

(Am I doing it right?)

I honestly think we need to exclude these themed lanyard, and go back to simple plain ones. The ones with a theme (what is it, Buffy card game this year?) have nothing to do with what Gen Con stands for according to me. I don't play card games and they take up space. Problem solved.

If we only had plain ones, we'd reduce the number of folks that would attend and then there would be enough to go around.

Perhaps Gen Con could not distribute lanyards at all. Let everyone acquire their own lanyards and let the free market sort it all out. Those who really want one will find a way to get one.

Wait...do people mooch free breakfast from the Embassy Suites? Not cool...

I'd give it a perfect 5/7.

But that's not FAIR. Gen Con is supposed to be FAIR. I'm a starving <artist/college student/barista/game designer/millenial> and can't afford a <lanyard/downtown hotel room/parking space/True Dungeon ticket> in addition to my badge. If we let the free market determine prices for <lanyards/downtown hotel rooms/parking spaces/True Dungeon tickets> then only the fat-cat Wall Street bankers will have them and Gen Con will be RUINED FOREVER.
