So that's it.
The last of the places that truly welcomed gamers and made Indianapolis special is gone. What will I find when I make it back to GenCon next year? Just another cold heartless city that happens to host a convention I love, I guess, just like the others.
Not much reason to "Visit Indy" anymore.
I'm not sure I agree with this. MANY places in Indianapolis welcomed gamers and went out of their way to make them feel special during Gen Con. It wasn't only the downtown places, but many restaurants and stores around the outlying hotels that were part of the housing block were also gamer-friendly. The city recognizes the economic boon that Gen Con gives Indianapolis, and I think that anyone who opens a place downtown will realize that catering to gamers is a good thing. (We are usually better behaved and better tippers than non-gamers). I'm sure that if there are any restaurants open this year that have not had the pleasure of welcoming gamers during Gen Con in previous years, they will definitely be doing something Gen Con themed in 2022! As Gen Con attendees, we need to be on our best behavior so they see how great the gaming community really is!
