Even better, the CDC is hosting an international conference on infectious diseases in Atlanta the week after Gen Con and masks are optional.  The fools!

Also the UK Games Expo just finished this past weekend. It is a little bit smaller then Gencon and it did not have a mask or vaccine mandate, they removed them in May.

I hope you're not expecting that bolded part to be ending soon, there'll be days and days of arguing after the announcement.
But hey, if anyone is looking for a skywalk hotel this'll be their chance.

Ironically, the convention has no rules posted but the hotel has the usual disclaimer: Guests may be required to wear face masks or coverings in hotel indoor public areas and when moving around in outdoor areas at Hyatt hotels globally, based on local or national mandates or guidance.

Fingers crossed, I loved having a downtown hotel last year and didn't get one this year :)

while I don't think this will be the announcement as there are too many that are entrenched in their ideas, it will seem really silly to require masks at Gencon but not at a CDC event.

Just as a point of reference to share accurate information.  The CDC is requiring face coverings at the conference.  While it is not listed in their FAQ, if you download their safety plan COVID Guidance on the conference from the registration page, it is the first bullet point.

If you want to read it, go to register for the conference and then you will find the pdf link under "COVID-19 Disclaimer".

Huh... Interestingly they are not requiring proof of vaxx status.

Simple request: Can we please stop arguing all of this?

Nothing said or posted here is going to sway GenCon one way or another. They’ll make their announcement, and then you can make your decisions.

Not that it matters for me. I’m going no matter what.

There are many threads here that don't matter to me.  I don't ask the participants in those threads to stop talking just because what they have to say doesn't interest me.  I just avoid those threads.  This is probably one of the longest threads in the forum because it is a topic many people are interested in.  Does it "accomplish" anything?  Yes!

It helps me understand where other people are coming from, what their hopes & fears are. I enjoy hearing a variety of perspectives in this thread, even those I disagree with.  Nearly all the posts here are civil and are steering clear of making it a debate about science, per Mike's instructions.

My point is that most of this discussion has been pointless and going around in circles. Nothing else can be said that hasn’t been and posting up who and who hasn’t required masks/vaccines isn’t going to sway GenCon.

You came here to tell us to stop talking about it?

Are you talking about this document from March 2022?

https://eventpower-res.cloudinary.com/images/v1/web_assets/22tfgh/l1yt6av3vzmdmmuxn9cl/COVID_Guidance.pdf

Pretty sure that is from an entirely different event and has not been updated to match their current guidelines.

Most discussions on the internet are pointless and go in circles.

Now now, picking the cherries isn't relevant.  Those trees are not Gen Con's trees.

But we know this. :)

Yes.  They had postponed it from March to August.

https://www.iceid.org/Postponement-Announcement#:~:text=ICEID%202022%20Postponed%20to%20August,the%20conference%20until%20early%20August.

If you look at the date on the registration page, you can see that they have the rescheduled date on the registration, and on that same page is their COVID safety plan and guidance link.
