Vegan/Vegetarian Survival Guide?
Posted by desj16

We usually bring our own food for at least breakfast, but for lunch I typically browse the Food Truck list to research what possible vegan options might be available:

https://gencon.blog/2023/07/21/gen-con-block-party-2023/

I thought I might share my list here in case others find it helpful, since it can be difficult to find things on the fly. Other than Books Bourbon & Bacon, who posted their upcoming GenCon menu (which has a couple vegan options on it), the others are not guaranteed since the info is what I could find from Facebook, previous menus, and from what I remembered from last year.

There is also Island Noodles, which has a vegan option and the veggies are cooked separate from any meat. They are always a staple for me and have been present in the block party next to the Food Trucks every year that I've gone (it's always a long line but it moves way faster than any of the food trucks).

Very nice! You caught a lot of stuff I missed digging through the individual food truck pages, it also seems like Karma Kitchen and Bearded Bagel have some good vegetarian options.

I made a google doc of all the food truck links if that helps!

There's an Indian place on the second floor of the ICC near room 239 that's advertising that they'll have vegan chana masala. The guy said they'll be there all weekend, saw them setting up earlier today.

Thanks for sharing this thorough guide! As a fellow vegan attendee, these lists are life-savers. From personal experience, Books Bourbon & Bacon and Island Noodles never disappoint.
In case the food trucks fall short, I find it handy to pack extra snacks. Ever tried looking for vegan options at Costco Food Database before the con? You can search online for any vegan stuff they have to know all the nutritional info about them. Besides being convenient, their variety is pretty decent. They have these really good Nugo vegan protein bars. I always buy them to avoid being stuck in long lines.
